sew brunette.

The beginning of my own line!!
S.E.W. BRUNETTE
blouse & skirt made by ME =)

soo they're pretty basic, nothing extraordinary.. but I'm just astonished and proud of myself that I actually hand-made and sewed this outfit. I have such a strong sense of accomplishment.

However, after many long hours in the sewing lab and needle stab marks all over my fingers from ridiculous whip stitching, I now know I definitely DO NOT want to be a fashion designer. Making clothes is such a pain in the ass, and I just don't have the patience nor the passion.

Shoe design (as shown: BEBE) is without a doubt my cup of tea =)

Well, this is just the beginning! So exhilarating

Check out Stephanie's outfit toooo!!

sew inspired.

I read this in 'Interview' Magazine:
ART
"Between October 9, 2007, and September 12, 2008, the U.S. Stock Market lost $4 trillion in value. So where does the money go? Does it implode into a sort of virtual black hole? A friend of ours once theorized that a crash is like losing weight, and that the dollars are given off as heat. But if that were true, all that former dough would have replaced fossil fuels. We believe in the law of the conservation of energy, so all that value had to go somewhere. As far as we can tell, it probably went into the art market. The day Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, Sotheby's opened an auction of Damien Hirst works, "Beautiful Inside My Head Forever," which raised $198 million. The art market is a likely hiding place for that fugitive $4 trillion - and the money will be happier there. We like the long view. And we'd much rather look at a painting than a financial instrument. When was the last time you got inspired by a contingent premium option? Or got a compliment on your credit card derivatives? For us, art is where the real value resides. It recalls the days when value had values. Art isn't greedy. It's a gift. It reminds us of what people like about religion, sex, and drugs and rock 'n' roll, sports, and fashion - all at the same time. It's something you can believe in. Something that gets you off. Something you can watch or play. And it's something that not only speaks to who you are, but that transforms you into who you want to be. But we don't want to give away the ending. Let's leave the details up to the artists. The financial markets may be in turmoil, but no matter what happens, we still have art. And that's what we really value."

This piece really encouraged me to think that no matter how depressing the world may get, there will always be art, fashion. The world could stop spinning tomorrow, and I'd still wake up and go to fashion class.

sew brit chic.

The British Fashion Awards 2009

Designer of the Year - Luella Bartley
Who is Luella Bartley? Apparently, this onetime British Vogue editor is Brit's "IT" fashion designer. Her Spring 2009 Collection seems very pecuilar to me, but definitely has the British street chic look. Her looks are "colorful chanel meets pretty punk." Believe it or not, her collection is very tasteful and full of life and color; she has great aesthetic, a great eye for new fashion. And a major plus, she has some killer accessories from shoes to leather handbags to gloves to pins. You can actually find her collection in Target for she just launched it through Target's 'Go International' Collection. loves it!

Is it just me or is everyone catching on to Leanne's skirt details.. ;)

Model of the Year - Jourdan Dunn (surprisingly not Agyness Deyn)

Menswear Designer of the Year
Christopher Bailey for Burberry

Designer Brand of the Year
Jimmy Choo

Fashion Creator of the Year
Tim Walker

Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design
Stephen Jones

sew getting these.

Antonio
heelless boots. Crazy unique? Definitely. Love em!

Stella McCartney -
clear chunkies. One Word: classic.

John Galliano
swirly metallic platforms. You always have to own a pair of cool crazy heels. Your heels should always walk in the door before you, and these babies make a statement.

Lanvin-
bejeweled heel. timelessly classic chic, yet spunky. You could rock these heels in any outfit; from a simple pencil skirt to skinnies and a white tank. Vintage beads/jewels are in.

Aminaka Wilmont -
I am completely baffled yet mesmerized by these futuristic heels. I am allll about wearable art, and these definitely make a statement. I admire the fact that now your feet can feel the ground wherever your heels take you. I bet Posh gets a pair next week, as well as me.

Dior - Fertility Goddess Heels
Priceless. The fertility goddess could not be used in a better way. This artifact signified women way back when, as do heels this century.

Alexander McQueen
amber heeled jewel boots. I'm sure Cleopatra is turning in her grave for these boots.

Balenciaga
Booties are HOTT this season, and of course, without a doubt, Balenciaga makes them HOTTER. I absolutely love the detail in the black leather boot, along with the jewels on the heel. The open toe adds the spice. I'd kill for a pair!

These heels should not be kept a secret. They should be worn and worked to death. They need to make history.

sew full of words.

I adore Christian Siriano. He truly inspires me without a doubt.
Fashion is art. Fashion is fun. And why not make funnie art out of it. I think I spend more time in my fashion classes laughing, gossiping, cursing, dancing, and singing than actually sewing. I mean, what's more important - learning how to whip stitch, make patterns, sew a hem properly, OR getting to know the people who will grace the fashion scene and hipsters with me one day. You can never have too much fun, or too many glasses of wine with your manequin and fashion junkies.

sew for him.

Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang, and Donna Karen are just a few fashionistas that have openly stated they fully support Obama and thus, are voting for him.
"Apart from being the right candidate, Mr. Obama looks better in a suit, which can only be a good thing."

I'm sure Mrs. Obama has quite the line-up of designer dresses, suits, shoes . .

Bottom line -
BARACK THE VOTE.
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD.

sew craving for these CHANELS

So lately I've been browsing through all the designer runway shows along with all the fashion magazines like a mere fashion crack addict - sitting on my bed with macbook in lap, licking Elle pages with my right hand, holding Sutter Home with my left - and have noticed that CHANEL has some stunning to-die-for heels walking around...

I'd die!!

Which brings me to my monthly dilemma:
SHOES vs. RENT

sew NEW.

My 1st post; so overwhelming, yet so exciting.
What to say.. I better make one hell of an introduction..
Well, I'm Stace;
a fashion junky, art major, love addict, alcohol abuser, crazy college girl.
I laugh all day, party all night,
and always pass out with my black leather booties on.
One of my favorite girlfriends, Stephanie, who I absolutely envy, introduced me to this blogging business, so I figured I give it a shot and spill my heart out on my favorite things.
- life : just live like there's no tomorrow, just love yourself before anyone else, just learn from all the stupid mistakes, and most of all, just laugh, for it's the best medicine.
- art : my inspiration.
- fashion : my passion and the only thing thats all over my body 24/7.
- NYC & LA : heavens
- high heels : my rent money can always be found on my feet.
- sunglasses : life in the shade.
- tattoos : honesty, faith, and love goes with me everywhere.
- my girls : they are as strong as the tables I dance on.
- peace signs : my prerogatives.
- mary jane : I love walking in mary jane's shoes.
- music : takes my mind and my soul.
- hippie bands : my halo.
- vintage shops : "people collect art, people collect stamps.. i collect clothes."
- grateful dead bears : they dance to the tunes that I know by heart.
- handmade bracelets : true arm candy.
- braids : strings of love that dangle in my curls.
- boho chic : lifestyle. was definitely born in the wrong decade.
- Stella McCartney : never lets me down.
- chanel handbags : got them all in chinatown. one day I'll have the real deal.
- little black dresses : make the nights.
- late nights at the bars : always close my tab and stumble out laughing at 2
- mascara : 5 coats just isn't enough.
- sushi : breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- mojitos : absolutely perfect, a girl's best friend.

So, those are the basics.
Stay tuned.
